Angad welcomes writer and arts practitioner, KALAIJA MALLERY to talk about her work in the public arts community as part of The Luminary, Monaco, Bunker and GoodArt Doc.
Kalaija Mallery is a socially-driven artist, community organizer, and extra-institutional researcher from Oregon. Her projects respond to a paradoxical understanding of Freedom, the difference between a cult and a community, and the end of the world as a cultural catalyst.
Kalaija manages public programs and operations at The Luminary, a non-profit platform for art & action in St. Louis. She independently produces arts exhibitions, combining her skills in photography, interest in art theory and writing, and prioritization of room for play and experimentation in order to strengthen emerging artists’ work and help them realize new creative projects. She curates at Monaco, an artist-run gallery, and Bunker, an underground project space. Her photography business, GoodArt Doc, provides quality documentation of artwork and objects for local artists at affordable rates.
